SCS Foundation Board

Mrs. HarperMary Harper is the Superintendent of Shelbyville Central Schools. From Ball State University, she
received her Bachelor in Science Degree with an endorsement in Mildly Mentally Handicapped in 1982 and a Master in Science with an endorsement in K-12 Gifted and Talented in 2001. From IUPUI, she received her Elementary Supervision and Administration license in 2001. She earned her Ed.S Educational Leadership Administration and Supervision license from Ball State University in 2010. Mary has served the Shelbyville Central Schools Corporation for 35 years as a teacher, High Ability Coordinator, Hendricks Elementary Principals, Assistant Superintendent and now Superintendent. She has served on many community committees and Boards. She is currently serving on the Turning Point Board and acts as a liaison to Advantage Shelby County. Mary is married to Scott Harper, who is a teacher at Shelbyville Middle School. She has two married adults, Ted Harper and Molly Collins as well as three wonderful grandchildren.
Beau Browning
Beau Browning was raised in Shelbyville, Indiana and currently resides in Fishers with his wife, Mary. He sits on the Board of Directors for both the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and for the local United Fund in Shelby County (SCUFFY), where he served as the 2014 Annual Drive Chair. Beau also co-chairs the Major Business Partners Committee through the Major Hospital Foundation, supporting its annual fundraising drive. He serves on the Finance Committee of the Blue River Community Foundation, volunteers as an active member of the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council (#822), and is a parishioner of St. Louis de Montfont Catholic Church in Fishers. In his free time he enjoys travel and sports.
Kay Dee BairdKay Dee Baird is a 2001 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School. After graduation, Ms. Baird attended Indiana University, Indianapolis, and graduated from the Kelley School of Business with high distinction and bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance. Ms. Baird then attended the Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Indianapolis, Indiana. Ms. Baird graduated from law school cum laude in 2009.

Ms. Baird is a currently a resident of Shelbyville. She is a partner at the law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP, where she represents primarily banks and financial institutions as a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Practice Group. Ms. Baird is also a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and represents clients in commercial litigation.

In addition to being a member of the Shelbyville Central Schools Foundation, Ms. Baird is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association and a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
David M. FinkelDavid M. Finkel is a member of the Shelbyville Central School Board. In addition to his service to the schools, he is also a member of the Shelbyville Board of Works. Throughout his career David has served in public life. He spent 20 years with the Shelbyville Plan Commission previous to his current positions. David founded the Strand Theatre, a local performing arts center. As a local business owner, David has enjoyed employing many dynamic high school students. He is a pilot and aircraft owner, plays trumpet in two ensembles, and enjoys living in a historic home in downtown Shelbyville.
Matt HaehlMatt Haehl is a lifelong Shelbyville resident who graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1996. He received his bachelor’s degree in business management from Purdue University in 2000. Matt is married to his wife, Jenni, and they have two children, Brock and Sydney. Matt is the Vice President of Sales and Operations for Shelby Materials. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Shelbyville Boys and Girls Club, and is a past President and Director for the Shelby County Babe Ruth. In his free time he enjoys watching his children’s sports and activities, traveling and being a proud supporter of Purdue football and basketball.
Bob ClaxtonBob Claxton is a former President of Knauf Insulation North America. In this role, Bob touches every aspect of the business including finance, product development, sales and marketing, and distribution.

Beginning his tenure as Knauf’s President in January 2006 capped a career spanning 30 years in the insulation industry. He began work in the finance department for CertainTeed Corporation in Shelbyville, Indiana in 1976.

In 1996, Bob moved back to Shelbyville and spent the next ten years serving as Knauf’s Senior Vice-President of Finance before being named President in 2006.
Matt NolleyMatt Nolley earned his B.S. from Purdue University. He then earned an MBA with a focus in accounting and marketing from Indiana University Kelley School of Business and a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Matt is President of the Riley Area Development Corporation, serves on the Indianapolis Zoo Associate Council as Zoolala Chair and is a member of the 1816 (Indiana State Museum), Logistics & Corporate Partnership Committee.
Ms. BabcockMichelle Babcock is the Business Manager of Shelbyville Central Schools. Mrs. Babcock attended Huntington University and graduated with Honors in her bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Human Resource. Mrs. Babcock also attended Indiana Association of School Business Officials where she earned her certification as Certified Business Officer. She has recently been accepted into IASBO’s two-year Leadership Academy. In addition to serving on the SCS Foundation Board, Mrs. Babcock is on the Board of Central Indiana School Employees’ Insurance Trust, where she serves on the Administrative, Finance and Clinic Oversight Committees. Mrs. Babcock is a resident of Shelby County. She is married to (RET.)1SG Shawn Babcock, they have two children and are expecting their first grandchild.
Floyd Hastings

Floyd K. Hastings is a lifelong resident of Shelbyville, IN and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1980. Floyd is married to his wife, Jennifer. They have three grown children and one grandson. Floyd was employed with the Shelbyville Police Department for 28 years. He was a Reserve Officer for five years, was then hired full time in 1996 and retired in 2016.  He currently works as a Reserve Officer for the Shelbyville Police Department and is a Resource Officer for the Shelbyville Central Schools. Floyd was the D.A.R.E. Officer for 17 years of his career and continues to serve in that capacity. Floyd is a member of the Shelby Lodge #28 F.&A.M. and Shelby Lodge F.O.P # 84. In his spare time, he likes woodworking and baking special desserts upon requests.
